About the Friends
Who Are We?
The Seymour Friends is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the high quality of activities and programs for seniors offered at the Center.
Since 2007, the Seymour Friends have raised hundreds of contributions and volunteers to enhance the many programs offered at the Seymour Center in Chapel Hill. Please donate to help us in our efforts to continue providing support for the Center!

Our Mission
"The mission of the Friends of the Robert and Pearl Seymour Center is to promote the well-being of all persons age 55 and older in Orange County by supporting the effective use of the Center. To accomplish this mission, the Board solicits and receives funds and other support to assist the Seymour Center in accomplishing its goals. We work with and supplement the efforts of the Orange County Department on Aging, the Chapel Hill Parks and Recreation Commission, the Carrboro Parks and Recreation Commission, and several other senior serving agencies in the area."

What are the Center's Sources of Funding?
The Orange County Department on Aging provides the professional staff to manage, operate, and maintain the facility. Support also comes from the Towns of Chapel Hill and Carrboro, but that support has been greatly reduced due to budget constraints. The remainder of our revenue is derived from individual contributions, annual yard sales, fund-raising drives, etc.
